There are national Church of England, Canterbury ÑÇÖÞÂ鶹 and other grant funders who may be able to support your work.
If applying for a you will be expected to show a genuine commitment to progressing your decarbonisation journey – which means reducing energy use and electrifying heating. This includes being registered for Eco Church and completing the EFT (Energy Footprint Tool). Projects must show good value for money and reasonable carbon savings for the cost of the project.
Give To Go Green
This is a match-funding grant in which Parishes are encouraged and supported to fundraise locally using an online digital platform.
It is suitable for small to medium scale net zero projects. The maximum amount that can be matched is £10,000 and churches have a 6-week period to fundraise as much as they can.
Applications should be made using the Church of England’s Grant Management System but Diocesan support will need to be provided so please speak to your Net Zero Adviser if you are interested in this grant. Contact netzero@diocant.org.
There is sufficient funding for 3-4 grants per year from 2026-2028.
Solar PV Partnership
The ÑÇÖÞÂ鶹 of Canterbury has £50,000 to distribute in grants up to a maximum of £10,000 each to support the installation of Solar PV (and a battery storage system where appropriate). ​â¶Ä‹â¶Ä‹&²Ô²ú²õ±è;

Decarbonising Churches Grant Fund
The National Net Zero Programme are working with the ÑÇÖÞÂ鶹 of Canterbury to financially support a small number of churches to fully decarbonise, take a phased approach to decarbonisation and/or instal a low carbon heating system in the event of a failed/failing boiler. This grant fund can support with feasibility, project development and fundraising aims well as capital costs.
Please do speak to your net zero adviser if you are looking to undertake a big capital net zero project.
Quick Wins
Our Net Zero Quick Wins funding stream is currently closed but will re-open in 2027. We will have £23,000 to distribute in 2027 and again in 2028 for small to medium scale actions that will reduce the carbon output of your church/church hall such as changing lightbulbs to LED. Projects up to £3,000 can be covered in full by this grant, anything after this must be match-funded up to a total grant of £10,000.

This grant database is for all churches and is an excellent resource for finding net zero related grants that are available in the ÑÇÖÞÂ鶹.

The Places of Worship Renewal Fund
This grant, administered by Historic England, covers capital works that keep buildings that are active places of worship safe, open and in public use.
Grants range from £10,000 - £1,000,000. Applications will be prioritised where there is a need for investment and community benefit can be evidence. One priority of the fund is to ensure heritage plays an important role in the fight to limit and manage the effects of climate change.
There is a total allocation of £23 million per year over the next four years. Historic England are inviting .
The National Lottery Heritage Fund
Grants from £10K to £10 million. Projects must meet the four investment principles of
saving heritage; protecting the environment; inclusion, access and participation; and organisational sustainability.
